Chia Shyu is a Taiwanese Canadian with a background in biological sciences and a minor in management from the University of Calgary. She has been working as a registered dental hygienist since 2024.

Alongside her clinical work, she maintains an interest in genetics, visual form, and storytelling. She is a fiction editor and an avid reader, with a particular appreciation for the work of Stephen King.

Her fascination with ball python morphs began as an interest in pattern and inheritance, and continues to evolve through her own snake, Kaburamaru—the quiet muse behind this archive. She hopes this archive can serve as a space for those unfamiliar with ball pythons to discover their beauty and uniqueness.

Outside of this archive, she can be found between three settings: A local reptile expo, an EDM festival, or a quiet café—preferably one with a good almond croissant and an oat milk matcha.
